Newsletter 5th March 2019
Well our 2019 event was pretty dam good, couple of minor issues out of our control which have been sorted, namely the Friday Breakfast and slow service at the Wednesday Classic Cover Welcome Function.
The rain on Friday in Stratford and New Plymouth was disappointing, but we have ZERO control of the weather. Every venue performed perfectly – Opunake – Inglewood – Waitara – Stratford – Hawera and New Plymouth.
New Plymouth City on Saturday exceeded our expectations of people attending, wow it was huge.
The Farewell Function was well attended with close on 1,000 people, great party, awesome band.
Two highlights had to be young Cody Putt, guitar solo and the US Ambassador Scott Brown joining the band. You could tell he had a blast and is talking about being with us again next year all going well. Really nice guy and his wife Gail not only fitted in perfectly but loved the event. Mind you she was somewhat nervous when Scott climbed into Karl Boniface Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car for a Fire Up.
Next year we will have a 20m x10m marquee to provide additional sun shade at our Welcome Function. Currently looking for a new sponsor for the event which was extremely well attended.
Caterers told in no uncertain terms we want a mega out door bar and more cooking on the BBQ.
So popular is Che Orton and his band we have booked them for not only our Farewell Function but also the Wednesday Welcome Function. And yes, Cody is keen to come back and play. Can’t wait to see what he’s learnt over the next twelve months. At Twelve years old he blew everyone away with his natural talent.
After Five Years of naming rights sponsor, we say thank you and farewell to Mainstream Global! Your commitment as mentioned was beneficial in assisting this event to grow into what it is now so again thank you.
Americarna 2020 will be known as Classic Cover Americarna, thank you Larry for accepting this role as our new naming rights sponsor. Classic Cover and myself (JRI), have a long relationship one which is strong and bodes well for the future of the event.
To Lee, Kerry LG & Bob and the hundreds of others involved with making the event run smoothly during the week, thank you all.
Nadine well done, your second event and a job well done.
To the Trust (TVET) board members, top job to you all and your commitment to insuring the people of Taranaki enjoy the event as much as the entrants.
To all the international visitors we had thank you for being at Americarna 2019 and experiencing what the event is and the joy it provides so many people.
We look forward to you all returning some time.
Fletch from Classic Restos was here again, working flat out to get footage for two episodes, Cheers Fletch.
We have started our debrief meetings and planning for 2020. We Do Not want this event to get any larger than it is now. You will see some minor changes announced in due course, don’t panic we are not putting an age limit on vehicles!
Our biggest issue is traffic management and Brian Rose from Turn Key Civil has been incredible to work with so hopefully we can have his assistance for 2020 and beyond.
Well that’s enough for now, be safe – enjoy your vehicle and we are looking forward to meeting you next year.
