Newsletter 29 March 2018

Americarna Newsletter - March 2018
Well, Americarna 2018 is now just a past memory.  Thank you to all who attended.
We had some issues thrown at us with the weather early in the week, which caused a tonne of damage in the region, leaving 13,000 homes and farms without power and no water for large parts of New Plymouth, Waitara & Bell Block.  However, that aside, the weather from day one was awesome for the whole event.
We always look at what we can improve on and as such we have identified some things we need to change.
The first is ensuring we get the cars out of the stadium much quicker – this will require assistance from the Police.  We have another debrief this week which includes the Police.
The second issue is how popular Americarna has become!  As such, we will be limiting the number of new RHD vehicles that can enter in 2019.  We know this is going to upset a number of people, however we cannot have the event top heavy, for example with NZ New Mustangs.  This will ultimately keep the older cars away, and the hot-rods, both of which are key to the success of the event moving forward.
The TVET Trustees and Nadine are working now on the funding for 2019 so we are hopeful the funding approval comes quickly so we can open registration sooner rather than later.
Mainstream Global have confirmed their continued support for 2019 and made the announcement at the extremely well-attended farewell party, which was incidentally a great night – food was really good and plentiful and the music fantastic.  We have re-booked the same band.
There were a couple of glitches at the farewell party which have been discussed and will be sorted for 2019.
Well, Beach hop is now over so for those that attended, we trust you had a great time and returned home safely.
Not long now and winter will be here and the cars parked up waiting for Summer.
We will keep you updated with information when registration will open.
Again, for those that attended this year, it was great to see so many familiar faces and to meet so many new entrants.
JR and Nadine.
