A Big Success
Well Americarna 2015 was from our point of view and that of entrants a huge success! The crowds of people that were out to view the cars was spectacular, Mangorei Road was just magic as were the families in the CBD on Saturday. The weather was perfect, the Go-Stop was a hit as was the amount of prizes given away.
The Trust has been given a very clear message from entrants and the public that you want it again next year, so there's some work for them to do. Mainstream have confirmed already that their committed to be the Naming Rights sponsor again which is awesome! We will keep you posted.
Now for some bad news - Martin & Anne Perkinson were seriously injured in a car crash on their return journey home on Sunday, both suffering a wide range of injuries. The accident was not their fault, unfortunately visitors to New Zealand have again caused another accident on our roads. Their 1939 Chev Coupe will more than likely be written off. I've spoken to their daughter Kelly and she advises that Martin under went surgery yesterday. They are hopefully having them moved from Hamilton to Auckand as soon as possible. This will allow them to be closer to family. Today my daughter Brooke (who was in the Merchandise trailer at the event) has delivered a huge bunch of flowers to Anne from us, and when I say 'us' I mean from all those that attended Americarna 2015. Their recovery, particularly Martin's will be long. Should any of you wish to send a card to them, I know it would give them a major lift. Please send it to Martin & Anne Perkinson C/- PO Box 300-080, Albany, Auckland, 0752. A number of you have also contacted us asking how you can donate funds to assist them in any way possible. If you would like to do this please send a cheque made out to them and post it to the above address.
We will visit them in the week ahead once they are in better shape and let you all know how they are doing.
