Potential Revised Event for 2015
Well, what a week we have had since news of Americarna 2015 was sent. So much feedback, it's been unbelievable.
We have had financial support offered from local businesses that has seen my brain start working overtime on what we could do to ensure those that have paid deposits, booked flights and planned trips to NZ have an event to attend. I have put an idea to the Taranaki Vehicle Events Trust (TVET) who have agreed and are now seeking approval from the main funder which they will know next Thursday.
So here is the proposed revised event:
Thursday 26th February:
Leave New Plymouth via a parade through Waitara, followed by a scenic drive through the countryside arriving in Inglewood for another mega street party.
Friday 27th February:
Leave New Plymouth for Opunake to take in their 150th anniversary event, then continue around the mountain to Hawera for a CBD display and the Stop-Go event. Note: The Stop-Go is a first and will be awesome with a couple of drag car demos!
Friday night drive back to New Plymouth via the famed Mangorei Road and into the New Plymoth CBD for Friday night closed road entrant only cruising.
Saturday 28th February:
New Plymouth CBD show n shine with all the kids free activities. Improvements will be made to get the cars into town much quicker than 2014.
Now the big difference is a one off cost of $30.00 per car - passengers free. There will be no entrant function as the cost is excessive. However, there is a concert at the TSB Bowl of Brooklands that night which may or may not interest you.
So fingers crossed the major funder approves the changes next Wednesday so we can hit the GO button. Again $30.00 per car that's it! This will make the event given it's size and public appeal, I believe the lowest cost entry fee in NZ! We are working on processing the entry fees already paid tomorrow.
What would help is if this still appeals, and I cannot see why it wouldn't, could you please email Toni firstname.lastname@example.org a yes or no if you intend to come! This will give us an idea on what quantities of merchandise to order which will be branded Americarna 2015 Town & Country as there is more time for cruising and less parked up.
Believe me when I say this past week hasn't been easy so hopefully a few hundred of you will flick us a yes! We will email again the minute we know and at the same time a revised entry form will be on the website.
Again, please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience that last weeks email caused. We had no idea how many were/are travelling from the South Island and coming from off shore.
Please note: TVET have acknowledged that there will not be another event until 2017 - making it important to get 2015 happening!
