What's Been Happening?

Hi All, Well the majority of those who travelled with us to the US are back safe and sound, six are still enjoying an extended stay.

This trip was by far our best to date, with so many highlights it’s hard to put them in order.  It was also our longest tour to date, and with a total of 42, our biggest.  Great bunch of people from many different parts of the country who have made new lifelong friendships.

Highlights for myself were many but dinner hosted by Scott and Esther Dungan at Black Hawk Museum was spectacular and may never be beaten.  The location again, unique to say the least.

Next the Bishop - Owens Valley Cruisers Car Club turned it on collecting us from our Hotel in their cars ALL with small NZ flags flying, what a great night that was as well.

During Hot Rod Week, we visited so many great places we (the blokes on our tour) had planned to stop at Edelbrock in Torrence where Smitty showed the group around the whole operation, “Wow” was the general comment from all of us.  The detail to ensure all products are of high standards was refreshing and great to see.  We even had the pleasure to see a LS7 with Edelbrock Supercharger on the dyno run over 700HP with only 5lb of boost!

So if you’re looking for heads, manifolds etc, be sure to check out Edelbrock’s website!  We even, by chance, met Vic Jr and had a tour of his private collection.

Our stop at Gary and Karen Schroeder’s was enjoyed for many reasons.  With the opportunity for some to purchase a large number of very rare and collectable die cast models which he had decided to sell.  It was like watching kids let loose in a candy store!

We ended our last night with a great Kiwi style three course meal and goofy prize giving.  Tons of laughs from our group along with the other patrons in the restaurant… thankfully!

Back to work for me, Toni to work on Bikes, Blues and Hot Cars.

Cheers

JR
