Latest News - 27th March 2012
We have finalised the itinerary for our 2012 Tour. We have space available for forty people and again, will ensure that the ladies travelling with us will have plenty to entertain them. The itinerary is as follows.......
Saturday 18th August:
Leave Auckland in the evening, flying to San Francisco. This afternoon we will just relax at our hotel to recover from the flight.
Sunday 19th August:
Today we will go to Sutter Creek to attend Andy Brizzo’s Charity Luncheon Picnic. We will no doubt have a luncheon with some Italian flair as we look over up to 800 cars. Lunch and entry to the picnic is included in the tour cost.
Monday 20th - Thursday 23rd August:
Hot Rod Week kicks off. Each day we follow the cars to numerous places of interest in the greater San Francisco/Bay area.
Having been on Hot Rod Week each year for some years I can guarantee you will be amazed at what you will see. Hot Rod Week runs from Monday through to Thursday.
Thursday 23rd August:
Late afternoon we will be collected by stretch limos and head into San Francisco for a dinner/theatre show the likes of which most of you would not have seen before. This will be a great night!! Based on past experience we will need to have more champagne, ice and coke in each limo!
Note: Ladies you are free to take a day or two out for shopping or if a number desire we can arrange a trip for you to Nappa Valley on a winery/tasting tour, depending on numbers. If there is enough interest we can cost this for you prior to departure or once there.
Friday 24th - Saturday 25th August:
Good-Guys Street Rod Nationals starts at the Alameda Fairgrounds. Up to 3500 cars, swap meet, car coral, vendors, trade displays and much more.
The fairgrounds are only a few minutes from our hotel and a short walk to downtown Pleasanton.
We will be back at the fairgrounds again Saturday. Past tours have seen the ladies come in the morning then either hit the mall or the hotel pool in the afternoon. We have transport available both days.
It’s worth noting that our hotel offers a courtesy van that will run you to all the best shops within a few miles of the hotel (just a small tip required for the driver).
Sunday 26th August:
Today we farewell Pleasanton and head to the west entrance of Yosemite National Park and carry on through stopping for the night in Bishop. One of our longest day in the coach; Time to lay back relax, re coop and take in the amazing scenery.
Monday 27th August:
Vegas here we come!
Again a long drive but we have some very interesting things to show you as we stop and look at some semi ghost towns. Again we assure you that you will not be disappointed. We will arrive in Vegas in time to head out and explore the lights of the strip.
Tuesday 28th August:
Today you are free to explore. We can help you choose a show to attend in the evening, arrange a tour to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Nascar ride a must) or just relax at the pool.
Wednesday 29th August:
Just the same as Tuesday. We can direct you to the factory outlets and to what must be “nerd heaven”. If you’re looking for laptops, i-pads, i-phones etc we can get you sorted.
Enjoy your last day in Vegas as we’re off bright and early Thursday morning!
Thursday 30th August:
LA here we come.
On route we will stop at one of the most famous diners in the US, Peggy Sue’s. Step back in time; grab an ice cream soda or another souvenir for your toy shed!
Once we hit LA we will head for Galpin Ford; this is where Pimp my Ride is filmed. You might even meet Mad Mike! View the owner’s private collection of cars. If you’re a Ford nutter, you’re right at home here.
Our contact, Ladis, can sell you any F-Series truck or Mustang you want at very competitive prices and drop ship to Kiwi Shipping.
Even if you don’t want to purchase anything, trust me it’s well worth the visit.
Tonight we will stay in Burbank which will be our base for the next three days.
Friday 31st August:
Today we tour the LA area stopping first at Edelbrock before moving onto CPP, then Eddie Motorsport. Note: Edelbrock and CPP is a tour of the factory working! Eddie Motorsport will also be at the Good Guys event in Pleasanton. So any purchases made in Pleasanton can be picked up from the LA factory. It will save the hassle of carting gear around the US.
On the way back to the Hotel we will stop at Pasadena for dinner. For the ladies that prefer not to come today, this is a great opportunity to take in some shopping. We will arrange transport to a nearby Factory Outlet Mall and if you aren’t shopped out when you return to Burbank you will have time to check out the local shopping. Early evening, transport will arrive to take you from the Hotel to Pasadena to meet up with everyone else for dinner and your chance to check out the area.
Saturday 1st September:
You are free today to take up some of the tourist options available to you. We will help you with your plans; perhaps a tour to the Stars Homes, LA Zoo or Universal Studios. On your return we will head off to view a couple of local private car collections you won’t want to miss.
Tonight will be the ‘final supper’ together on our last evening in the US. A venue has been booked for this.
Sunday 2nd September:
Today we will leave the hotel around 11am and visit Hollywood Boulevard, the street with all the stars names in the sidewalk before heading to Long Beach.
As the sun sets, we will make our way to the airport to head home. You can expect to arrive back in NZ early on the 4th September.
We can arrange an extended stay for those of you who wish to extend.
If this is something you would like to be a part of and/or know more about, email Toni at firstname.lastname@example.org with your expressions of interest. Only 40 spots available and we have a number already on the list. Also, if you have any questions email Toni or myself - email@example.com.
Final costing should be completed with the next two weeks at which time we will need to seek deposits to secure the flights. An upgrade option will be available and we can arrange for you to use airpoints for this.
I’m excited about this trip as I know it will be our best to date.
Ps: The latest NZV8 magazine has coverage of Americarna, plus their website has over 400 photos posted. The NZ Hot Rod Magazine coverage will be published next month.
