Well, this is one email we had not planned on sending.
After the Government announcement that was made yesterday, we have been put into an extremely difficult position which has resulted in us having to regretfully make the decision to cancel Americarna 2022.
We have exhausted all of our options, including that to postpone, but given the current Covid variant and the fact that it has now arrived in our communities, we have no other option but to cancel for this year.
We have a team of people onsite assisting Zoe today to contact everybody who is involved in the event, including sponsors, supporters, vendors etc. to advise them of the news.
As per the terms and conditions of registration, all entries for 2022 will be carried over to 2023 with places and prices locked in.
The dates for next year will be 22nd – 25th February 2023, with the registration centre opening on Tuesday 21st.
We have worked extremely hard over the past few months to resolve any issues and run the event with the restrictions prior to yesterday’s announcement. But, with the whole country now in red, we are faced with new challenges – The main one being that we would only be allowed to have a maximum of 100 people onsite at the event.
Zoe’s post on Facebook yesterday (Sunday 23rd) saw a number of comments from entrants saying they will still be coming to the Naki for a visit regardless. This is great to hear as there is plenty to see and do in our beautiful region, and our local community will welcome you with open arms.
If you are coming down for a holiday at any point, do make sure you go out to Tawhiti Museum. As we mentioned in our last update, it is a great day trip from New Plymouth. Nigel and his team really do have one of New Zealand’s hidden gems.
We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our supporters & sponsors for their continued support, some even confirming their commitment for 2023 already!
And to you all, thank you for your patience, support and words of encouragement whilst we have navigated these unprecedented times.
We are absolutely gutted that we won’t see you all next month, but please be assured that we will do everything in our power to make Americarna 2023, our 15th event, the best year yet!
JR, Zoe and the TVET Board.
