Friday 24th February:

Rock on down to Registration for breakfast before we depart at 9:30am for our run to South Taranaki.  Our first stop is Stratford, time to regroup, grab some morning tea and have a look around town.  We are looking forward to seeing the Stratford locals again!

Next is Hawera.  Once in Hawera we will park in the CBD and be treated to more of the great South Taranaki hospitality.  On the agenda is food, music, shopping and a great time!  At 2:30pm we will depart for The TSB Hub.  Here we will hold the first heats of the very first ‘AmeriCARna GymCARna’.

What is Gymkhana? A Gymkhana event is a time and/or speed event in your vehicle.  It features obstacles such as cones, tires, and barrels. The driver must maneuver through a predetermined "track" performing many different driving techniques all within a certain time limit. Time penalties are issued if cones etc are touched or knocked over. The Americarna version of Gymkhana will be called ‘GymCARna’.  It will not involve any burn outs, 180 or 360 deg spins or drifting as some events do and will be run on a seal car park

On our return to New Plymouth we will cruise to the CBD via Mangorei Road.  The Mangorei Road street party in 2010 was a spectacle indeed.  Residents out in their deck chairs, lounge chairs, waving, cheering and cooking up a BBQ storm!  It was incredible and we can’t wait to see the residents out in 2012.  From Mangorei road it’s on to the Friday Night Main Street Cruise!  The cruise route will open at 6:00pm and will remain open until 9:30pm.

Registration and Merchandise Hours for Friday:
8:00am – 9:30am
Please note: This is the last opportunity to register for the event.  Any unregistered vehicles will be refused access into the Friday Night Cruise.

Saturday 25th February:

A Roller Derby competition ‘AmeriCARnge’ will be held inside the TSB Stadium during the day.  Taranaki Roller Corps will be hosting visiting teams from around the North Island.  At 3:45pm the $5000 cash giveaway will be drawn and you must be there to claim your prize.  Entry forms will be in the event programme which will be given to you at registration.
