23rd March - 26th March - The Official Americarna 2011 Event Begins

Once you reach Invercargill, the Bill Richardson Truck Museum, Anglem Street, is where you will find registration, which will be open until 8.00pm. Either head straight there, get yourself registered OR find your bearings, book into your accommodation and then make your way to registration once refreshed.  For the locals of Invercargill, not on convoy, Registration will be open from 10.00am.

We have organised a private tour from 1.30pm - 5.00pm of the Bill Richardson Truck Museum.  This is for Americarna entrants only and can only be viewed on Wednesday 23rd during the above times.  This collection is mind blowing and the opportunity to view it should not be missed.  So once you’re registered head on through to check it out!  We have been advised the new section will be open when we’re there.

Thursday 24th March 2011

The first cruise of Americarna Invercargill 2011 kicks off at 10.00am sharp from the Stadium Southland car park.  Parking will be available from 8.00am.  If you’re not yet registered, head to the Bill Richardson Truck Museum first.  The first leg of today’s run will take us through Queens Park.  This is a very rare opportunity to take in this beautiful park while driving your pride and joy.  From here we will cruise on out to the Waiau Town & Country Club in Tuatapere via Otautau, passing as many of the local schools on our way out as possible.  Once at Tuatapere, park up, relax, catch up with friends and have lunch.  Waiau Town & Country Club will have lunch available for purchase at $15.00 per head which includes:  Soup, mouse traps, chips, sausages, bread, tea & coffee.  On the return to Invercargill we will cruise to Riverton.  Here we stop for the opportunity to take in this picturesque sea side town.  Take the time to have a coffee, check out the local arts and crafts or explore some of the town’s history.  Riverton was originally established as a Whaling town by Captain John Howell in 1837, then known as Jacobs River.  Captain Howell’s house was built about this time and is the oldest surviving building in the South Island.  Or, for those of you brave enough and with room to bring the surf board, there are some great surfing spots.  From here, head back to Invercargill at your leisure.   Invercargill is home to a large collection of Burt Munroe’s World’s Fastest Indian memorabilia.  This collection is owned by the local Hayes family and is on display at Hayes Hardware on Dee Street.  If you haven’t viewed the collection this afternoon is a great opportunity to head down to Hayes.  It’s a must see as is the new gift shop section!!  The early evening leaves you free to relax, dine or enjoy refreshments at one of the local establishments.

Americarna Movie Night which will feature a good old American classic starts at 8.00pm.   Come to the Civic Theatre at 88 Tay Street; Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Friday 25th March 2011

Day three of the event takes us off to car crazy Gore.  Again, if you haven’t been to registration, head to the Bill Richardson Truck Museum first.  All cars are to be at the Stadium Southland car park ready to head off at 10.30am sharp, and sharp it will be.  As many of you will have found out at our last event, Americarna is well known for its timetable punctuality - if we say ‘leaving at 10.30am’, then it is 10.30am.  Once we hit Gore all the cars will park up in the main CBD area.  Here we will stop for a party in the street!  Gore was out in force at the 2010 event and we can’t wait to get back and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere!  2.00pm is time to head off again.  This time a different route will be taken on our return to Invercargill.  Details of this are still yet to be organised but we’ll keep you in the loop. We may even stay longer in Gore if what’s being worked on comes into play.

Once back in Invercargill it's a great time to relax, refuel yourselves and your cars ready for the Friday Night Main Street Cruise!  A road closure will take effect on Dee and Tay streets late in the day to be ready for cruising to start at 6.30pm.  We also have something else special in the pipeline prior to entrant’s cars hitting the cruise.  It's going to be a blast, so don't miss it!

Saturday 26th March 2011

Come to Stadium Southland for another day jam packed full of entertainment and fun ... Country Fair Day!!  From 10.00am - 4.00pm come and enjoy children's entertainment, a lineup of great music, food, trade and craft stalls and much more.  It’s also a great opportunity to view all the cars on static display.  Then at 3.45pm the prize draw for the Americarna giveaway vehicle will take place.

Today you can arrange to take a flight to Stewart Island if you wish.  Stewart Island Flights will have a special deal for you; and yes they will pick you up from the stadium and have you back by 3.00pm.  Visit

6.30pm – Is the Entrants/Sponsor buffet dinner.  The Saturday night After Party will rock off at 8.00pm.

Come enjoy an evening of food, refreshments and entertainment.  Catch up with friends, talk about your week's adventures, let your hair down, put on your dancing shoes and party the night away.

The buffet dinner is available by pre-ordering your tickets on your entry form for the event.  (The price for this is yet to be set and will be advised once confirmed).  Payment for the meal tickets is to be made at Registration during the event.

Due to the damage to Stadium Southland we will be changing the venue for the Dinner and Function.  This will now be held at the Ascot Park Hotel - Cnr Tay Street & Racecourse Road.
