Whangamomona is located out the back of Stratford and found along the famous Forgotten World Highway. The drive takes you along a beautiful scenic cruise approx. 1 ½ hours’ from New Plymouth.  Whanga is a small farming community famous for declaring itself a republic back in 1989.   The Hotel is an iconic establishment situated at the centre of this community.

This cruise to the Whanga Hotel has been voted one of the must do’s according to the readers of NZV8 magazine.  While the roads are all in good condition it does become very windy and there are places that require caution. You will need to ensure that your fuel tank can travel the 200km return trip, although you can refuel in Stratford on the way there and on your return if required - It would be a good idea to carry a bit of extra fuel on board if you are in doubt.

You will be led by a local, leaving the TSB Stadium car park at 10:30am. You are welcome to depart Whanga at your leisure but the lead vehicle will depart at 1:30pm and return to New Plymouth via Stratford for refueling.

The hosts of the Hotel are Richard & Vicki Pratt and they look forward to welcoming you. Click here to check out the lunch menu.
