I've just returned from a quick trip to the US to sort out a few things. I did a stop by Kiwi Shipping/Mainfreight HQ and looked at the new shipping facility they will be using in the next few weeks. Trust me, if you're planning on shipping a vehicle or items back from the US then Steve Curle and his team are the people to call. An amazing facility which is just perfect for loading containers. I met all the team and what a great bunch of people.
Plans are well on track for Americarna 2012 with some things still in the planning stage. Hopefully we can announce what we’re working on in the next few weeks.
Toni made contact with our accommodation supporters and advises there is still plenty of accommodation available. With the RWC now as good as over, life will return to normal and people will get back to planning which events they want to attend this summer.
Our newest Accommodation Supporter is:
Lockwood Manor Motel

We have finalised the itinerary for our 2012 tour but until we know the numbers attending are unable to confirm the pricing. We have space available for forty people and again, will ensure that the ladies travelling with us will have plenty to entertain them. Itinerary is as follows:
Saturday 18th August:
Leave Auckland, flying to San Francisco. This afternoon we will just relax at our hotel to recover from the flight.
Sunday 19th August:
Today we will go to Sutter Creek to attend Andy Brizzo’s Charity Luncheon Picnic. We will no doubt have a luncheon with some Italian flair as we look over up to 800 cars.
Monday 20th – Thursday 23rd August:
Hot Rod Week kicks off. Each day we follow the cars to numerous places of interest in the greater San Francisco/Bay area.
Having been on Hot Rod Week each year for some years I can guarantee you will be amazed at what you will see. Hot Rod Week runs from Monday through to Thursday.
Thursday 23rd August:
Late afternoon we will be collected in our stretch limos and head into San Francisco for a dinner/theatre show the likes of which most of you would not have seen before. This will be a great night!!
Friday 24th – Saturday 25th August:
Good-Guys Street Rod Nationals starts at the Alameda Fairgrounds. Up to 3500 cars, swap meet, car coral, vendors, trade displays and much more.
The fairgrounds are only a few minutes from our hotel and a short walk to downtown Pleasanton.
We will be back at the fairgrounds again Saturday. From past experience the ladies come in the morning then either hit the mall or the hotel pool. We have transport available both days.
It’s worth noting that our hotel offers a courtesy van that will run you to all the best shops within a few miles of the hotel.
Sunday 26th August:
Today we farewell Pleasanton and head to the West Coast entrance of Yosemite National Park. Not a long drive today, just want to get relaxed ready for a few full on days.
Monday 27th August:
As we climb 10,000 feet you will witness all the beauty of Yosemite in summer. Our day will finish staying in Mammoth.
Tuesday 28th August:
Vegas here we come!
Our longest day in the coach but we have some very interesting things to show you as we stop and look at some semi ghost towns.
We will arrive in Vegas in time to head out and explore the lights of the strip.
Wednesday 29th August:
Today you are free to explore. We can help you choose a show to attend in the evening, arrange a tour to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas Motor Speedway or just relax at the pool.
Thursday 30th August:
Just the same as Wednesday. We can direct you to the factory outlets and to what must be “nerd heaven”; if you’re looking for laptops, i-pads, i-phones etc we can get you sorted.
Enjoy your last day in Vegas as we’re off bright and early Friday morning!
Friday 31st August:
LA here we come.
We will stop at one of the most famous diners in the US, Peggy Sue’s. Step back in time; grab an ice cream soda or another souvenir for your toy shed!
Today we will visit Galpin Ford; this is where Pimp my Ride is filmed. You might even meet Mad Mike! View the owner’s private collection of cars. If you’re a Ford nutter, you’re right at home here.
Our contact, Ladis, can sell you any F-Series truck or Mustang you want at very competitive prices and drop ship to Kiwi Shipping. Even if you don’t want to purchase anything, trust me it’s well worth the visit.
Tonight we will stay in Burbank.
Saturday 1st September:
Today you will have the option to come down to Danchuck’s, CPP and another GM Parts supplier or take a tour of the stars homes along with everything else this area has to offer.
Tonight we will more than likely have a Kiwi-style BBQ at Rich Hart’s shop. Those that joined us in 2010 will have fond memories of a great afternoon.
Sunday 2nd September:
Today we will leave the hotel around 11am and visit Hollywood Boulevard, the street with all the stars names in the sidewalk before heading to Venice Beach for your last chance to witness the crazy California beach culture.
As the sun sets, we will make our way to the airport to head home.
We can arrange extended stay for those of you who wish to extend.
If this is something you would like to be a part of and/or know more about, then email firstname.lastname@example.org with your expressions of interest. Only 40 spots available and we have a number already on the list. Also, if you have any questions email Toni or myself - email@example.com.
In the meantime, if you haven’t registered for Americarna Taranaki 2012, get your entry in.
