No doubt some of you are lucky enough to still be on vacation while most of us are now back working.
Not a good thing to start the new year with but Hot Rodding in the U.S has lost the founder of Good-Guys, Gary Meadors. For those that have traveled on our U.S.A Tours, Gary regularly took our entrants for rides in his vehicles during Hot Rod Week. R.I.P Gary.
Now on a positive note, we are thrilled to announce that Todd Energy have allowed us the use of their private road which includes a bridge. This is the first time their road has been made available for an event to use, so we are extremely pleased that Americarna 2016 entrants will have the opportunity to drive on a SEALED road not available for the public use. Toni and I drove it just before Christmas and the opportunity to see some of the rolling hills and another view of the Waitara river is an opportunity not to be missed!
Todd Energy have had their lawyers draw up a legal document for Americarna NZ to use their road, so again we thank them for their investment and commitment to ensuring Americarna 2016 has the new additional feature to use. We will talk to the event photographer about being stationed at the private bridge, as the steel structure will be a great photo opportunity.
We know what the weather will be doing during our event as a local identity Jim Hickey, better known as TV One’s former weather man has entered the event. Jim is an American vehicle enthusiast and an extremely approachable person who’s first passion is flying followed very closely by his Chevy's. So I’m sure he will be helping at the air display on Wednesday.
Speaking of personalities, one of New Zealand’s most recognisable motor sport characters – Greg Murphy is also attending Americarna 2016 for the first time and is looking forward to the event. Greg is also very approachable and will be looking at all the Mopar’s as that is one of his passions.
Entries are at 400 and a few now, so the 600 limit will be reached, so if you are coming and haven’t entered yet please get onto it.
We'd like to acknowledge and thank the following sponsors who, along with all our supporters, are hugely appreciated:
